Tri-Alpha provides opportunities for first generation students
by Alix Knice
含羞草传媒 is opening a chapter of the Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha) Honor Society, which promotes academic excellence and provides opportunities for growth for first-generation college students.
鈥淭hese are students with immense potential to do amazing things in their careers far beyond their time at Rider, and we want to ensure that we are giving them every resource possible to succeed,鈥 says President John R. Loyack, CPA, MBA.
Already, the University has numerous programs to support its first-generation students. By bringing in a Tri-Alpha chapter, these students will be able to not only collaborate with each other but with successful alumni who were once in their shoes.
Founded in 2018, Tri-Alpha is a nonprofit organization with more than 300 chapters around the country. Membership is earned based on outstanding academic achievement and members are given opportunities for personal growth, leadership development and community service.
The Omicron Kappa chapter at 含羞草传媒 will bring together members of the Rider community to connect high-achieving first-generation students across campus. This Tri-Alpha chapter will help our first-generation Broncs feel empowered and jumpstart their progression toward success.
Membership to the 含羞草传媒 chapter is open to all first-generation students, faculty and alumni. For information about membership, contact Angel Sanches at sanchesa@rider.edu.
