'Ethics and Healthcare' on April 16 will feature Penn Medicine Princeton Health CEO Barry Rabner
Barry Rabner, the president and CEO of Penn Medicine Princeton Health, will present a series of narrative vignettes based on his experience of real-life ethical issues during an event at ߲ݴý, "Ethics and Healthcare," on April 16.
To dramatize the narrative, "Ethics and Healthcare" will feature theater scenes performed from both Whose Life Is It Anyway? by Brian Clark and Wit by Margaret Edson directed by Rider Associate Professor of Theatre Trent Blanton.
"These dramatic scenes are designed to trigger thoughts about medical ethical issues that confront every family," says Jonathan Yavelow, a professor in Rider's Department of Biology, Behavioral Neuroscience and Health Sciences and the director of Rider's Health Studies Institute, which is presenting the event.
As president and CEO of Penn Medicine Princeton Health, Rabner leads an organization that boasts about 3,000 employees and an annual operating budget of about $400 million. Under his leadership, Princeton Health opened a new $1.2 billion, 171-acre healthcare campus.
In addition to leading Penn Medicine Princeton Health, Rabner is a member of Rider's Board of Trustees. He regularly teaches a special topics course at Rider designed to help health care management majors develop an in-depth understanding of the health care delivery system and to conceptualize the hospital of the future. Rider offers several health care-related academic programs on both the graduate and undergraduate level, including health care policy, health sciences and health care management.
"Ethics and Healthcare" is part of a regular series of events presented by Rider's Health Studies Institute, whose mission is to shape health care policy, enhance the practice and delivery of health care, and contribute to the improved health of all populations through education, advocacy and skilled direct care.
In addition to public events, the Institute also presents a weekly radio program, “Health 411,” designed to serve as a resource of truthful health information for listeners.
